Fauna is the collective term for all animals.

Half of the Xongi-Pedia is entirely devoted to the animal kingdom. A distinguish is made between mammals, birds, reptiles, arachnids, amphibians, insects, arthropods and molluscs. It has been decided to exclude fish and animals that are to small to witness with the naked eye as they cannot be seen during a safari.

In the lowveld of South Africa there is a huge diversity of fauna. It is the one place on Earth where most species of mammals can be found. To be precise 133 different kinds. There are 444 types of birds and 98 kinds of reptiles. There are also many species of the smaller and especially lesser known animals: arachnids (121), amphibians (31), insects (844), arthropods (10) and molluscs (4).
