Mammals

Mammals (Mammalia) are the class of animals that are warm-blooded, (usually) viviparous and vertebrate. The females suckle the young. Mammals are distinguished from other animals by their fur, well-developed brains and skull structure. What is even more characteristic is that mammals are able to communicate with each other in various ways through sounds, smells and other signals. Specific social structures and hierarchies can be found. Mammals are intelligent animals whom learn and develop by trail and error. Mammals are threatened by poaching and destruction and reduction of natural habitats. There are about 6400 known species in the world. Around Xongile Lodge 133 of those can be found.
