Cats

Cats are known for their (semi-)retractile claws, slender figure, flexible forelimbs and a strong muscular build. Their facial muscles and adapted teeth allow them to create a very powerful bite. This is necessary, because they are all obligate carnivores. They cannot digest anything other than meat. Furthermore the pattern of the coat differs wildy among different species. Most live solitary and hunt by ambushing their prey. There are 38 species, of which 6 can be found in the Lowveld.
